After a bit of playing around found the crucial crimp that makes everything much easier! Maybe to go back for the lead one day...

Tried it with rope from the top several times. Finally today I figured out the correct foot positions. Amazing climbing.

Quite dusty, and also very hard

Started this on top rope but quickly drifted onto easier ground. Will go back to it once I've got a better idea of the line.

With toprope practice, but my first route of this grade for a long time, so was just nice to remember what they feel like! With the side runner E5. Really good friction even in the sun!

Headpoint. Not hard, probably not E6 though I lack experience here! Good balancy climbing.

Flashed it on a top rope, then had it on the lead. Used side runner. Great route!

richiebongo 02/Feb/12 Lead RP

With bomber side runners which i think makes it a very easy E5

Trying to convince myself to solo, but realistically will shunt it some more and then lead it. Will claim E5 head point if I lead it.

Had toproped a while ago, maybe a year. Using the side runner makes this a very good E5. First go via the easy start, which I suspect most people use. I then had a quick go at the hard, bold start with gear clipped, then did the whole thing again with proper start.

Maybe a few more top rope ascents and then a lead.

aww felt harder than last time

clean on top rope after 2 falls there is only 1 hard move at the beginning which is a long reach to a terrible micro crimp I am sure I could lead it if I got it really wired .

Used a different sequence every time which made the solo feel a little sketchy. Not very hard or tenuos climbing but definitely 6a.

It took me ages to do this waiting for all the kids to finish abseiling down it with their muddy boots. One bold move in the groove and all is over. Generous at E6

The bottom of this (if taken direct) is propper hard, at least 6b if you avoid the illogical traverse in. The mental crux up in the groove is a far easier set of moves. Gear in the drilled slot on the left makes sense and is on route IMO. I think the grade (taking into account the direct start) is more like E5 6b as I onsighted it when I was only onighting 7b+ on bolts.

Think I first decided to use the `side' runner on this day.
