ron1954 4 Jul 2nd Guided by Dave Buckett, Highland Mountain Co. In low cloud. Wet rock. Approach shoes. Lots of sections of nice movement. Mantrap : not ashamed to say I used the peg as a foothold, and hauled on a sling from above. 40 ft corner : needed some thought, some nice moves, as well as some grunting, but a sense of achievement once up and out of it. Satisfying route! Descent by Coire Leis.

Three pairs of footwear with me today, boots, trainers and stickies for mantrap, which was about as stiff as I'd feared. Severe at least right?! 40 foot corner good fun too. Great adventure.

The top section is great but being out left of the crest, above the "hidden gully" was mainly just loose wet steep walking. We wondered if you could keep to the crest more at the grade? But you can move fast on the easier ground.

rd20 31 May, 2017 Solo Great conditions. Started from CIC hut. Vague start (pitched one lower short section as on rounded wet rock) then solo to top (one PtA on 40' corner). Descended TR (pitching Great Tower and Gully) to below Little Tower then branched off to Garadh na Ciste using "Scrambles in Lochaber". Wished we'd stayed on TR proper rather than "enjoying" character forming descents of steep grassy gullies filled with loose rock.

Made it up half way before having to traverse out to the left due to slime and steeping terrain decided to rope up for the next 40 meters or so, no gear found that would work with the small rack we had until a huge spike offered sanctuary, took a belay to get Henry up then scrambled up to the ridge line.

Nathan Adam 9 Jul, 2014 Solo O/S Bottom part of the buttress after 1st platform is vague and hard to follow(or did i just go wrong?). Easier once the crest is reached, overhanging wall is a wake up call after easy scrambling. Man trap is a one move wonder. Wouldn't argue with 4a for the top part of the 40ft corner taken direct without escaping on the ledge to the right. Superb route in the upper half! Descended Tower Ridge.

Soloed as a hard scramble: after the gully (L of steepening above First Platform), stayed left on groove-y ramp another 50m, never saw the "smooth overhanging wall", before back R to crest. One steep Mod step, then bypassed Mantrap on R - clean and Mod at most. (Mantrap looks close to 4a.) One Diff move in 40-foot corner. Superb this way and surprised how little loose rock - Obs Ridge looks much looser.

RobScotland 31 May, 2008 Solo O/S A fine route. Beautiful exposure and fine situations - a wonderful mountain route to solo. A solo ascent of the man trap probably isn't to be recommended for those of a nervous disposition - particularly in wet weather.

mikehenesy ?Sep, 2007 AltLd O/S We should have known when we saw snow on the Ben on the drive in, fabulous sunny start. Big boots and gloves, started off with a bit of verglas and got worse, the mantrap completely iced up - thick ice! Skated around in a terrified manner, what a lark? Crampons would have been in order -it's only the end of September! Said 300m in our guide, gives 500 in the new one. That would explain the extra rope lengths and doing the last few in the dark. Fabulous sunset over Tower ridge though and we made last orders!
