What a supreme route! The 5c pitch is sustained and technical and the groove/crack is a law unto itself. Dying to go back and lead the cruxes as Euan got them both this time.

Another classic. The second last overhanging crack pitch is really what makes this route. The entire Shelterstone just drops away under you. Amazing!

Brilliant exposure 2nd last pitch!

Having onsighted the first 4 pitches a week earlier and then retreating because of rain. Came back and then onsighted the whole route in fantastic conditions. I lead pith 3,4,7 and 8. Was psyched to onsight the overhanging groove

Fantastic route. Great climbing and generally very well protected and good ledgey belays. Although the technical crux, didn't find the 5c pitch too bad. The 5b overhanging groove however is a thrutchy fighter and definitely the physical crux. Have previously climbed Steeple so I suppose not every bit of climbing was "onsight". Summer's objective done already - what now?

Struggled as usual on the 5c but actually enjoyed the bulging groove. First mountain route of the season, worth the wait.

Super classic route, possibly as good if not better than Steeple. Thought the pitch gradings were a little harsh on the easier pitches, we thought more like 4c,4b,5a,4b,5c,5b(one very hard move, may have gone wrong way!),5c,5a and worth E3 overall as draining climbing so many strenuous pitches in a row! Harder than Steeple for sure. Epic weekend combined with steep gully skiing on Saturday!

sophiecb 25/Mar/12 AltLd

Led first two pitches and joined them together plus the scrappy pitch half way, leaving Chad to do all the hard work! The overhanging crack pitch (5b, though Gazza says 5c?) was wild and brilliant fun with squirmy, leg jammy moves and big air beneath the feet; there was just one bit of slimy moss in the finger crack before the peg making it a battle to stay on! Belays were excellent - comfy grassy banks you could lie out on - all bar one just before the 'nails' 5a pitch... "delicate moves... pleasant cracks" ? Ooaft, this was our least favourite. What a MEGA route!!

On a weekend when we did all four of the classic extremes. The same day as we did Steeple.
