SMC Description
100m. This route is on the cracked slabs left of Patey's Route. Start at the foot of Patey's Route.
1) 35m. Climb about 10m up a slabby ramp going left (the higher and right of the two ramps). Leave the ramp via a short chimney- groove, then pass left of a short wall to reach a broad ramp.
2) 40m. Break through the overlap above at some flakes and reach right, or straight up about 2m right of the flakes, and climb cracks up the slab.
3) 25m. Move up right to a block, then follow the continuation crack to the top, finishing close to Patey's Route. © SMC

Well rimed, but no ice. Rich lead P1 (grade VI) and I tried P2. The overhang in P2 was very steep and desperate – whichever way I looked for, left or right – and had no (obvious) gear to hit the deck 3 metres below. I backed off and escaped to Patey's Route. After 1 more pitch Rich lead, we retreated by abing off.

Thought it steady at the grade, but bold first pitch.

Started up Genie, took a wrong turn so went up the second pitch of this route. Managed the desperate second pitch, decided to keep going to the top, then took about a 40ft fall when my axes ripped!!..It was 4pm, so we retreated!
