steep and atmospheric.
(Please note there is a large v hollow sounding flake at the top of the first pitch which could prove catastrophic for anyone in the vicinity ( poco and crypt belays ) Jan 2011)

βeta: The flake of death is about two thirds of the way up the first pitch of the direct start. It's still there as of January 2020, and looks and sounds like it's ready to go at any time. It's also difficult to avoid pulling and standing on it as it totally blocks the groove which you go up. If anyone is in the area and has a spare day and a crowbar, it would be great to get rid of it before an accident happens.

murray 18 Jan AltLd O/S Will did the direct start, i did the direct finish. It's pure steep, sustained, positive fun. And threading the arch was totally outrageous!

WillHempstead 18 Jan AltLd Best winter route to date. My crampon fell off whilst leading the crux moves of p1, forcing a hasty retreat to my last piece of gear in order to strap it back on. Murray did the business on p2.

stevebarratt 6 Jan, 2011 AltLd dnf 1st (crack) pitch is fantastic. 2nd pitch seemed much sketchier. Felt like tough (ie very 'full') conditions. Took a belay and abbed off just before moving left on the second pitch.
