Rockfax Description
The first of the North Stack frighteners. The gear is plentiful compared to other routes, yet none of it is inspiring enough to make you want to put it to the test! It follows the clean streak between The Cad and South Sea Bubble. Start as for The Cad. At 5m, pull up and left onto easy ground and make your way to the start of the thin flake/crack in the wall. Follow this and the wall above on reasonable holds to where it steepens. Hand traverse rightwards below this to a point where you can pull through the bulge on small holds. From here, head up and left more easily to the top. © Rockfax

Murdo pulled a hold off and took a short fall first time round. Great climbing, pretty tricky and sustained . Think the gear is better than the other routes but i wasn't paying much attention to it. Wouldnt fancy myself on it as a standard E5 anyway.. maybe more like E6?

The full N Stack Wall experience. The gear is not that great for the first half but its prob 5c at that point. Definitely didn't want to fall off. Good kit in the top break before 6a crux going R then up to the top. The top could do with a bit of a lichen scrubbing.

Did the direct recently but without start, so started up the direct and finished as for original. Hairy top.

Hard entry into flake crack then hard move above next break. Move up over bulge thin to good crimps. Smooth lead by eric.

Direct Version, really good. Final Crimpy wall for the direct is quite hard but well protected by bomber cams
