AndyP 16 Feb, 2008 AltLd O/S Hardly in condition, but what snow there was was superb and the ice was iron hard - there was just not enough of it. The SMC give this a grade III and I would agree with this as there is a 4m ice smear about 10m up the first pitch. Also we climbed about 90 to 100m not the 60m suggested in the guide. I managed to excavate the tape of a stuck and frozen over camalot at the bottom of the ice and clipped it. Expensive loss. Stonefall down Central Gully, just a single helmet-sized rock rolling down the snow.
