I've been curious about this climb for years as it was in Ron James at Severe. Some exposed slab climbing + occasional bits of remarkably steep grass/gorse/heather. Best climbing on P2 slab which seemed like VS 4a/b, unless I missed an easier line. P3 is the crux according to RJ, but it has big holds and good runners, unlike the rest of the route. Rock seems dubious but isn't actually very loose. VS 4a would be best guide of what to expect, not HS 4b, certainly not V Diff, as in 1970s guide! Worth a star or 2 if all the grass was cleaned off. A mountaineering route...

If you happen to stumble upon his route in the guide book as I did, you should really consider if this route is the way you want to spend your afternoon. Bold vegetated non descript slabs, followed by rock of VERY poor quality. I found it very difficult not to kick rock down as almost everything I touched came off. The only redeeming factor was the stunning view, and an interesting positions to finish.

Very loose on pitches 1 & 4, excellent and exposed climbing on pitches 2 & 3 and the whole route is sparsely protected.

A bit wandering, and a few tubes of super-glue would come in handy. You won't find much decent protection on the lower pitches, but if it ever feels hard, you're off route. Just make sure the holds you use are actually fixed to the crag. Pitch 3 is brilliant, up the under-cut arete with exposure you don't normally get at this grade. The next pitch is very loose. I led p1,2 and 4 in big boots. We simul-climbed 20m of p 1 and 2 because we used a 30m rope for scrambling practice on Sentries Ridge beforehand. Did I mention the loose rock?

I was a little unimpressed with this. I think I used more grass and heather than I did rock. Had a hard time working out where to go, mostly because of the vegetated nature. Great setting and beautiful day.

Quality mountaineering route, worthy of (and benefitting from) more traffic.

I used a self belay system on some pitches and free climbed others, not much gear anyway. The top was tricky, loose and vegetated. A good route with great positions. Bit of a film here:

Loose, but fun.

Adrian and I climbed it in the rain, and thought that it justified being VDiff, possibly HVD at the very outside. Lovely positions and the walk-in was nowhere near as hard as we feared. Not much loose rock either.

A few bold sections, very suspicious rock especially in the first pitch (worth a test!), that aside, great exposure, gives a serious feel.

Brilliant, fun and remote route giving good sense of exposure. Watch out for rope drag!
