βeta: Wind also detaches icicles. Abseil from tree is impressive, but only 30m.

βeta: Think its worth pointing out how quickly this route can become dangerous in the sun. We did it after the coldest night in Scotland for 25 years from approximately 7am-9am which seemed to work well. I was surprised hear from friends who climbed it shortly after me that large amounts of dangerous ice were falling down the route as early as 10:30am (despite the temperature still being -10C according to the car, and this was weak early February sunlight). It seems to me, almost no matter what the air temperature, its not safe to be on this once the sun is out.
