1500m. Approach from the Wildhornhutte, ascend the marked trail for the NE Flank route, at approx half way up this, a small cairn path leads right (green arrow painted on rock). Cross rough ground, south of the Duresee to reach huge scree slopes, pass well under the Germanrippe to reach the start of the ridge at approx 2800. Follow the ridge in its entirety (initially heading East) always staying on the crest (2-3a in places) to reach the junction with the Germanrippe (approx 2950m). A short down climb (SE) and then then traverse loose towers (best on the W side), 1 bolt assists one steep down climb. Traverse into a notch beneath the largest tower, turn it on the right (W) via an open gully. Upon reaching the crest again, difficulties ease rapidly. Continue up the ridge to join the junction of the NNE ridge, turn towards the peak, exposed but easy before ascending a steep couloir to reach the summit ridge and cross of the Wildhorn.
Can be used in descent from the Germanrippe according to SAC website.
