Ticklists: Great routes in the Coe, 3 star Scottish winter, Scottish Winter IV-VII, Winter 2018 Dreamlist.

Tom.Priestley 19/Jan AltLd O/S

Led P2+P4. Brilliant climb and in great condition. Tricky crux on P3 but sustained throughout. Beautiful inversion day in the Coe!

Hmmm... hard. Didn’t feel psyched enough for direct finish having lead all the steep stuff... moved into intruder at top via a tenuous hook. Superb route. No neve but someone in recent days had done a fair snow clearance job so gear was easy to find

3 good pitches, P2 my lead, steep and strenuous. P3 steep marvellous positions. Well protected throughout. Perfect day in the corrie with one other team on Dorsal Arete

Why are all the rocks different sizes?

Lamb 09/Dec/17 AltLd O/S

Led P1 and crux P3. Very very good route with a cracking line. P2 is brilliantly sustained up the slab and groove on good hooks. P3 is stonking and well protected. Surely V,7 though?

metrorat 09/Dec/17 AltLd O/S

Glad to get this ticked, its been on my list a while. Superb, contrasting climbing. Great lead by Craig on the crux (sticking to the line, no stepping left business). Slipped out of the torques myself first go, totally unforgiving if you get the sequence wrong! Must be tech 7 but with bomber gear. Cracks largely dry, ace route :)

with Lamb
Andrew Wilson 26/Nov/17 AltLd O/S

Great first outing of the season. Nothing like a Glencoe sandbag to wake you up. Direct finish is the only way! Good lead by Alex on the top groove which had a distinct crux.

with Alex
alexm198 26/Nov/17 AltLd O/S

Fantastic route. Followed the line throughout, none of this escaping out left nonsense. Guidebook pitch lengths are all over the shop though -- we did it in 4, including a very short third pitch. Groove at the top is pushing tech 7 I'd say. P2,4.

Gordon Lacey 05/Mar/17 AltLd
Hugh Simons 05/Mar/17 AltLd O/S

Beautiful day. P1 & 3. P3 was quite stripped from the sun catching it in the morning. P2 was brilliant - sustained with great hooks. Went left at the top of P3 as the direct looked hard and was pretty bare of any snow too! Very civilised day. Great route.

Frozen turf and well snowed up, quite alot of loose rock around. There is a fridge sized loose block on the left hand side of the first pitch, would strongly recommend building the first belay out to the right of the fist pitch. There is another large loose block on the 3rd pitch directly above the spike belay. The climbing was really good fun.

Never skip crest day

DavidMcK 13/Jan/17 AltLd O/S

Such a quality route, lead 2nd pitch, great gear and bomber hooks.

CaelanB 12/Jan/17 AltLd O/S

p1 and p3. p3 definitely has the crux move if the groove directly above the belay is taken, pushing into tech 7? Good gear at chest height helps

First climbed this with Ian 15 years or so ago! With todays conditions, too slow progress, would have finished well after dark, decided now (after much dithering) was the time to finally bail!!!

Great fun. Took the left hand option pitch 3 as I had come winter climbing, direct was bare. It might have given me the fears too! Took an unexpected tumble off the first pitch at the little wall when the good placement ripped, held by the poor one on the leash. Made me squeek!

Roberttaylor 31/Jan/16 AltLd O/S

I led P2 and p3. I found P3 to be the crux. Really enjoyable route in good condition, not much rime but plenty of snow (too much!). Yarded on a stuck nut at the crux of p3 without realising it at the time. Followed the line throughout (didn't move out left)

Rocks ridiculously rimed, weather being blizzard with strong wind with little to no visibility all day. Rob lead P1 (30m), P3 (25m; took 1 hour to get over the cornice) and I lead the crux P2 (45m). I took a 12-14m fall near the end of the pitch (though I was only 2 metres above the last runner, which held the fall), hurt my back, but managed to finish the pitch. Rob carried all my gear and sack during the descent, thankfully... 8 hours of climbing for this little over 100 metres route with 3 pitches.

stratandrew 07/Feb/14 AltLd dnf

Good weather today, Route Plastered in the white stuff but poor Neve and lots of powder made finding good gear and placements very difficult. Bailed off. Looks like a great line - will be back.

Good nick, Hanging belay was a new experience in winter, P2 fantastic. Exit over snow ridge a bit hairy, big cornice but with a convenient human shaped hole already in it

Easily my hardest mixed climb to date and the crux move of the second pitch (lay away hook and rock over) was at my limit. Third pitch was excellent, exposed, near vertical but good axe and foot placements. Not quite ready to lead at this grade yet !

Brilliant route! Ran P2 & P3 together to give possibly the best pitch I've done this winter - 45m of sustained, constantly interesting, absorbing climbing. Nudging V,7?

dave o 13/Dec/08 AltLd O/S

Great wee route, only slightly spoilt by intense hot aches and James dropping his axe from the top of pitch 2, and me having to go back to almost the bottom of the route to retrieve it!!
