Rockfax Description
Sections of good climbing on a snaking line up the slab to the left of the corner of The Armchair. Start at a layback crack directly under the corner of The Armchair.
1) 5a, 14m. Climb the layback crack with conviction and make tricky moves left and up into the base of the corner. Traverse left to ledges and belay.
2) 4c, 15m. Climb the slabby wall leftwards, and then up to a belay on a grassy ledge.
3) 4a, 15m. Traverse 10m rightwards to a steep black corner and finish up this on good holds. © Rockfax

Thankfully Simon lead this one. We've done it before, but somehow managed to block the route from out memories. Bold as hell with some potential to fall directly onto the belay if you're not careful. Thankfully the belay is amazing.

1st Pitch is great. 2nd Pitch is scary as no real gear. 3rd Pitch nice and juggy even when wet.

Crux traverse on p1 was wet but well protected. Took ages trying to work out where p2 goes - started off going up obvious cracks above belay then left but suddenly blanks out with no gear so came back down again. It actually drops down and a long way left across some grassy ledges before heading boldly up some slabs. Took ages and much too hot.

First pitch easier than expected. The psychological crux is pitch2.

Interesting route. I did the first pitch and pumped my way across to the belay point rather than making delicate moves as the guide describes. Second pitch seemed way above the grade given in the guide.

Led pitch two, had an epic heading up to0 soon...E3?? retreated and tried again. Headed further left and up the slab at the end. Still felt very bold with a deck out possible!

I found this unpleasantly bold on 2nd pitch; keep traversing from belay to arete, avoid going up early (though it looks tempting) otherwise gets into harder ground

Cracking 1st pitch, layback then traverse then another layback. 2nd pitch had NO gear at all, Simon Chetwynd came to th rescue fortunately.
