Enjoyable route, climbed as part of a traverse of Beinn Eighe

mcawle 11/Mar AltLd

Snow on the path before turn off to Coire Mhic Fhearchair. Pretty soft - bit of a slog round to the corrie. Jenga gully was steeper than it looked - banked out soft snow. Sketchy traverse out to the ridge. Route itself was amazing, although loose rock, soft snow. Descent gully also seemed very steep initially. Slowly downclimbed about half way before glissading the rest. Saw rockfall in Morrison's Gully on approach. Heard big rockfall within the corrie from the summit but obscured by mist.

Good gear where needed, do not go right to the gully top where it goes left, to then go right. Good neve snow, thin on the rocky steps.

Consolation after backing off Central Buttress and finding out that Jenga Gully was also out of nick. No crampons (or jacket or gloves!). Bit too early for lovely spring conditions.

Good fun today with deep powdery snow on the ridge making for harder work than the last time I was here.

Did it when it became clear west buttress was in poor condition. The freezing level was higher than predicted and the rain had drenched the snow pack. A nice consolation route though.

Wicked route, would definitely recommend, we did it on an 80mph westerly wind day and it was very sheltered

Moved together whole way. Lots of powder. The odd tricky move were a 2nd tool came in helpful. Great mountaineering route.

Heavy snow cover. Soft and deep in the approach gully, improved a lot once on the crest. Good mountaineering route.

14 hrs 45 mins car to car epic! Hard work in powder snow and unexpectedly tricky climbing. Sterling work by P on her first winter route

Snow a bit soft lower down and lacked a defined line, improved on both counts once crest was reached.
