Steep line to the left of Smiths route. Common to finish up the crux pitch of Smiths route to give a more sustained outing.

Ticklists: 3 star Scottish winter.

4pm start, with just 4 screws, and finished in about an hour. Abbed off. I lead P1, Guy did P2.

Day hit from Wales, did this instead of point five which was running with water. Tricker than I expected but then I thought it was V, 5 when I set off! Pretty thin too, got drenched. P1

First pitch was much steeper than it looks from the bottom! Awesome climbing. Did the left hand finish off the arete. Lucky to have enough hard snow for the top out.

The only climb I ever seen that looks less steep from below. Most of the first pitch is probably overhanging.

Pitch one only (crux pitch) finished up smiths, due to running out of screws. didn't know the route when i started but it looked good! Sustained Sections of 90 and maybe even 100. had to be rescued of top pitch which is explained elsewhere due to my belaying failure

Completed this route's 1st pitch seconding, as we did a Kellett's/Smiths Hybrid. Fell from the top of the second pitch of Smith's Route and got a brilliant view back down the bulging Ice, before i bottomed out bouncing twice and the rope becoming tight on the slope below.
