UKC

One of the very best routes in Scotland. Although rarely in nick it does not require anything special, just well frozen turf and some snow. Well protected and quite amenable for the grade.

Ticklists: The Great Mountain Crags of Scotland, Chasing the Ephemeral, Scottish Winter IV-VII.

Great lead by Tim on top pitch as going dark

Stunning place & an impressive piece of rock. 18.5hrs van to van & an experience quite similar to doing an alpine grand course. Took a harder variation on p5&6 which I combined. A unique pitch that involved some horizontal crawling & insecure ledge shuffling. Great determination by Robin on p7 & a very strong lead by Tim on the crux in fading light. A real team effort & a very memorable day.

Winter everywhere except for on this buttress. Crux bits were a bit too much like dry tooling to feel like the real thing. Ho hum. Not satisfying like it should have been.
