Ticklists: The Baron's Bucket List.

Potsy 22/Jul/17 AltLd O/S

Bottom half was a trudge on wet rock and boggy ground with not much gear. Had the 70m rope so stretched it out as 2 long pitches. Top half was stunning tho and worth the slog. Struggled with route finding on last 2 pitches and suspect we may have strayed onto the VS but was still good fun. Did it in 7 pitches.

Did the sandstone pitches of 'Central Buttress - VS Route'. Then joined Hamilton's Route for quartzite tier. Good climbing.

Horrible wet and bold start (but easy if you can find dry bits). The quartzite section was much better and the top couple of pitches are excellent. A few loose things, particularly lower down in the quartzite section, but nothing too worrying. Clouds were drifting around us making for an atmospheric day.

Bailed from the broad terrace after three pitches because of low cloud. Abseiled down west central gully.

After series of showers followed by low clouds and thick fog we decided to bail and abseil down the wet rock after reaching the Broad Terrace in three pitches.

Spectacular situation, we were rewarded with stunning views all the way up. Sandstone start section was wet and slippery in places, but the quartzite section (half to two-thirds of the climb) was dry, though there was lots of loose rock. Great chimney section and some big flakes. The more slings the better for this one - especially in the final 50m of climbing.

Stunning location, cracking weather just a shame about the climbing. The quartzite tier was really chossy. Also the first pitch of last tower has a slab section that is in the guide at 4a, well it seemed harder than that.

Wet through sandstone Slab route - went for 4b bulge - intimidating final move but no evidence of previous activity on top out. Climbing quartzite flakes and slab superb - heavwens opened when Sally seconded this pitch - rest of climb very positive in wet
