These roadside crags lie on the hillside of Caitiosbhal in the South Lochs area of Pairc, about 1km to the west of Calbost. They are of good quality gneiss and although they are not very steep they are pleasantly situated overlooking Loch Mirceabhat.
Turn south off the main A859 Stornoway to Tarbert road at the west end of Ballelan (Baille Ailein) at the end of Loch Eireasort, and follow the B8060 through Cearsiader and Gearraidh Bhaird. The crags can be reached on a loop road, either through Taobh a' Ghlinne, or Marbhig. Park at the top of the hill before the road descends to Calbost.
Walk down the road and head uphill to the slabs.
Beautiful area and a nice spot for a few easy relaxed and low commitment routes (makes a dramatic change of gear from the Uig sea cliffs). Plenty of parking at the quarry/dump by the bridge just up the hill from the crags. oscaig - 27/Jun/25 |
