Croy Shore Caves © morpcat
A series of caves on the coast from CroyShore northwards, some sections are tidal. Some of the rock is best avoided. The problems described are on good rock.
Leave the A77 at Maybole and follow signs for the Maidens, take the B7023 before this and follow signs for Croy Shore. Park at the beach and walk north for 20 mins. The first area appears after a small grassy headland. The first area is the Croy caves, marked at David Bodan's Loup on the 1:25000 map. The second is Mexico cave (NS 245 153)is located a further 200m north after another rocky, tidal bay. Watch you don't get cut off a high tides.
Potentially loads more climbing here. The rocky outcrops go on for several km up to Dunure, and although a lot of the rock is poor, there are surely some gems to be found here. morpcat - 19/Jun/14 |
