15m. A pleasant crag a short walk from the centre of Blaenau Ffestiniog. Most climbs are found on the main ESE Face with a few on the smaller ENE Face. The climbs are of good quality and follow pocketed slabs or vertical cracks with good protection throughout.
Pay & Display car park besides the Co-op or on street parking in the centre of Blaenau Ffestiniog. Follow Heol Foty/Lord Street all the way to the barrier which is negotiated by a kissing gate. Continue ascending (on slate track) veering slowly rightwards as you proceed. At top of climb, track will begin to bear to the left, at this point (track junction) pick up and follow the path that bears back half left along the top of the slate spoil
I recall climbing on this crag in the early 1970s with other members of Ysgol y Moelwyn's Climbing Club. The teacher who took us there had clearly visited the crag before. I believe it was first climbed on in the 1960s by local climbers John Roberts and Ceri Bloor. Dave Williams - 01/Feb/20 |
