A gill-scramble of two parts. It starts from the River Aire at Airton and runs past Calton.
The easiest approach is to park near the bridge on the Airton - Calton road (Kiln Hill) and cross the field with the tumulus in it; a fine clapper bridge and the first little waterfall are just over the wall after the first field. This is on the East bank of the Aire (right, looking towards Malham).
The lower reach runs from the Aire up to the footbridge and ford where a walled path goes up hill to Calton. The upper part can be taken from here, but the legal approach is to take the footpath right up to Carlton, turn left and follow the bridal track out and join the gill at the ford by going through the circular pipe or just beyond after a memorial bench.
The lower part is not on Access Land, though it is near lots of footpaths.
The upper bit is all on Access Land.
