Sea Serpent- first ascent. © Wee Davie

Crag features

This is easily the biggest and most impressive cliff with some of the best rock on the island. It is in a very spectacular location gazing east across the Atlantic towards The Azores and is set off by the guns of the battery above.

Approach notes

Longtails do nest in many of the other cliffs in Bermuda but do not seem to favour this one. None of the routes described below have longtail nests on or them or in their vicinity. The nesting season is from April to October which are generally poor months for sports climbing anyway due to the high heat and humidity. Please stay well away from any nest sites during the nesting season.

Please be aware I removed one of the threads low on Neptune around the 1st of January 2014. The reason being I wanted to test a sample of the in-situ threads for strength. The thread broke at 15.5kN in the lab on 7th January, 2014. Strong but does not meet minimum standard for slings and draws. Also, many of the threads appeared to be in worse condition than the one I tested. Regards, Jim, from Sterling Rope.
