This area should not to be confused with the Avon Gorge. The sandstone quarries lie to the eastern outskirts of Bristol (Hanhham/Conham) in the woods above the river Avon as is flows into Bristol.
The area is owned by South Gloucestershire county council and is a geological SSSI but is public access land and popular with dog walkers and families.
Best accessed via Memorial Road (joining onto Abbot's Road) from Hanham or via Court Farm Road from Longwell Green.
Car parks are available at Castle Farm Road though it is generally easiest to use the car park opposite The Chequers pub. Both sites are signposted along the Memorial Road.
Accessible by bicycle from Bristol by using the River Avon trail.
Access can also be gained via a footpath behind the Elm Tree Pub
