Rockfax Description
A superb but tough Grochan HVS. Start just to the right of the ramp-line of Kaisergebirge Wall, below an intermittent crack. Move up to the thin crack and climb the crack and wall on the left to a break. A final strenuous move up and right gains an easier groove which is followed to the belay. Abseil off. © Rockfax

βeta: Yep, really quite a superb, well protected steep wall climbing offering. Unusually featured rock for the Grochan (it's more like gneiss or rhyolite), technical as well as steep, and it will swallow as many wires as you're able to feed into it. Pumpy. Sadly the quality rock gives way too soon to an undesirable grassy scramble, but at least this concludes with a huge and well rigged lower off. If not for the unseemly scramble, it would probably lean more E1 than HVS... | ||
