Adders are frequently seen around Curbar. They are often very well camoflaged so it's worth keeping an eye out when moving into new areas, picking up kit etc as a bite, although not life threatening to most healthy adults can still be nasty.
Ticks are abundant due to a large population of red deer. take care, particularly if passing through bracken below the crag.

βeta: I may have done this before but don't remember. Another great little jamming crack. 'Fist fight' is spot on! I soloed it, with grit gloves but short sleeves..eek, then, having enjoyed this, seconded Mick up it, with a jumper on but no gloves, just to see the difference. Both were abrasive experiences. Verdict: if in doubt on big grit cracks, belt AND braces is best! | βeta? | |
