βeta: I think the route described as \"Kick the Hobbit\" (given E2 5b) in the New Climbs supplement at the back of the 2004 Avon and Cheddar guide \"Climb the wall a metre or so left of the crack of The Hobbit\" is the same as The Magpie (described in the 1992 Avon and Cheddar guide but omitted from later guides) \"Climb the wall left of The Hobbit\" and given E1 5a. I think the latter grade is correct if you finish up The Hobbit. If you move left and finish up Scrambling Remains then it makes it E1 5b overall - the top section of SR is well-protected 5b. | βeta? | |
