Bolts have been placed illegally without the agreement of the Tunbridge Wells Common Conservators (TWCC). In consultation with the BMC, the TWCC have accepted that the bolts should remain on the Cheesewring Rock. The bolts are thought to be safe but climbers should use the bolts at their own risk. It is suggested that the bolts are linked using a length of rope as a backup.

βeta: I would warn others that this is reach dependent - I'm 5'8 and going statically from the obvious holds I'm ~3 inches shy of the tree root. If you could reach the tree root like that, the grade might be in the right ball park. Moving the extra 3 inches dynamically from that position however is on a whole other level. It might still be possible statically for me but as you smear higher on worse holds you have to pull a lot harder on the pretty bad holds! I would take the grade with an even bigger pinch of salt than the normal southern sandstone grading. | ||
