βeta: Having climbed Pain Pillar many times, I've no real idea what is meant to be different in the variation. The reasonably bold start to Pain Pillar can be avoided by taking the start of Gaucho. Fair enough option but I have never thought that to be the intended start to the normal Pain Pillar. As for the rest of the route, there is enough room for slightly different approaches but I can't see where a distinct variation would go.
