βeta: Approached from Flammes de Pierre. Very loose rock on abseil descent into couloir - two British climbers killed on this descent shortly before us. Bivouacked on minute seam in middle or Red Walls. Long, tiring descent; couldn't find way across Mer de Glace in dark, so had a second bivvy on the glacier | βeta? | |
