Crag features

Two weird limestone blocks in a pleasant woodland setting, with some good middle grade climbs on cracks and seemingly blank walls.

Approach notes

Parking is availible throughout the village. Please avoid blocking driveways or causing any inconvenience to locals.

Cross the gate beside the Bowling Club (56.036656, -3.496088) and following the uphill path behid the house on the left. At the top of the path it forks, left goes to Sentinel, right to Gellet.

No Access Issues

The crag has a history of access problems, with the landowner having taken such measures as smearing the rock with grease and installing bat boxes to discourage climbing in the past. The situation remains delicate, so please behave responsibly and try to minimise impact on the crag and surroundings.

If anyone finds a small Victorinox penknife on a red accessory biner around southwest corner of Gellet block, I'd be grateful to know/get it back.

I may have dropped a red mini Swiss penknife (on red accessory biner) on the ground between Red Flag and White Ensign. If anyone finds it, I'd be grateful to get it back. :)

I might have dropped a mini Swiss penknife on a small red accessory biner somewhere between White Ensign and Red Flag. If anyone finds it, I'd be grateful if you let me know.

Left a long sling and screw gate attached to a bush near the top of Sicky Doodle / Charleston. Will get them next time I'm there but if any Edinburgh based climbers pick them up, grateful if you could let me know.

Taking care of the crag - with it's proximity to lots of climbers (like me) who don't have many other local options, the environment of this crag is always under a bit of pressure. Even more so with the recent lockdown and the ongoing closure of climbing walls. So, just a thought that we might want to redouble our efforts to look after the place. Try to leave it in better shape than when you arrive - a wee look around for litter others may have left. And, I think, stop making fires.

Picked up light blue ladies jacket that some people left on Saturday the 9th of August at the Gellet Block. I think the people were German/Austrian. Send me a message if its yours!
