Climbs the left wall of The Cutting Edge. Start in the trench as for the direct start. Make a hard rockover onto a sloping ledge on the left-hand side of the arête. Climb straight up the wall past two great pockets. The blank section forces you to use the arête but stay left. There is a new chain above.
