Scot (and 36 others) summit Everest

The bad weather has relented on the world's highest mountain, allowing Alexander Allan, 45 (we don't think it's the former UK e-envoy..) to reach the roof of the world. Him, and three dozen others. That makes more than 800 summits in all since Tenzing and Hillary reached it in 1953. Which is good, right?
