Silvio Mondinelli and Karl Unterchirker of an Italian team have summited K2. This is the first summit in three years.

We were in Cortina when they summitted. Great excitement all around as it was the 50th anniversary of the Italian conquest of K2. Good little exhibition in the Alpine guides office if anyone in Dolomites.....check out the gear!
