Edale Mountain Rescue Team has announced an appeal for a new Rescue Centre Appeal. The team are currently housed in a truck garage (provided for free by Lafarge Cement in Hope), however, there is a long term need to upgrade the facilities to help cope with the demands of being one of the busiest teams in the UK. Edale MRT currently attend to well over one hundred full team calls a year on average, with 113 incidents attended in 2005. Covering an area as diverse as Stanage Edge to the southern edges of Kinder Scout.

Lafarge Cement has made more space available for the MRT but £150,000 needs to be raised for the new base from public donations. This will enable the Team to upgrade to use the latest modern technology and properly house their vehicles and equipment. More importantly, there will be a permanent base from which to manage live rescue operations from and improve the response time and efficiency.

Edale MRT is entirely funded by public donations. For details please see the website at www.edalemountainrescue.co.uk

Donations can be sent by post to: Edale Mountain Rescue Team, PO Box 6490, Bakewell, DE45 1XR
