Steve McClure and Karin Magog Add Routes to Kilnsey

© Al Austin
Dry and cool conditions at Yorkshire's Kilnsey Crag has facilitated some great ascents recently. Steve McClure has completed one of his Yorkshire projects. On the North Buttress Magnetic North starts up Tony Mitchell's True North (8c) but heads left to take continuously steep and technical climbing. Steve told UKClimbing.com,"As always on redpoint it actually felt easy. Perhaps soft 8c+ as a grade offering for those that need one. There's a nasty at the top that could easily catch you out!"

"Conditions have been very hot and sweaty for ages now, on Thursday it was cold and great friction, loads of people ticked their projects. A great atmosphere." said Steve.

Indeed, Yorkshire Limestone guru Steve Crowe reports at Climb OnLine that the continuation to his own route Cold Steal "was Stolen F8a+/8b by partner Karin Magog. A few days earlier Tom Bolger was seen tearing the crag apart including a very impressive flashed ascent of The Thumb F8a. Also recently, Alison Martindale was relieved to red point Let them Eat Jelly Beans (AKA The Bulge) her first F8a after being very close for quite a while now."
