Raven Tor Just Keeps On Giving

© Paul Twomey
Steve McClure, 36, has climbed a new traverse at Raven Tor, Derbyshire. Fat Lip weighs in at a proposed grade of Font 8a+/8b.

Steve reports;

"Yet another new problem at the Tor. This one starts up a Font 7c (the one that joins the Weedkiller traverse) before moving leftwards along the lip using a series of non holds before joining James Pearson's problem, Keen Roof, and finishing on the jugs in the roof. Thought by the locals to be the same grade as the roof (Font 8b) but since I have no clue of bouldering grades and it only took me two days and I'm crap at bouldering, I'll give it 8a+/8b until someone more qualified can let me know. Absolutely brilliant and unlikely climbing, sure to be a classic!"

Also at Raven Tor, Ru Davies (author of the Peak Bouldering guidebook) added a new route, Full Bleed, proposed grade Fr 8b which takes the wall right of Rattle and Hump on some small holds. Three bolts and Ru says, " Quite nice."

Steve is currently working on two very hard projects at North Yorkshire's Malham Cove.

Steve McClure is sponsored by Petzl, Five Ten, Beal and Fat Face.
