Top Slovenian competition climber Maja Vidmar has redpointed Attilla Luomgo (F8c+), Barratro, Trieste, Italy.

Vidmar had succeeded on the lower part of the route (F8c) a few days earlier and on the 21st of June photographer Gerhard Schaar travelled over to the limestone cliffs of Barratro to shoot her on this route. She managed to climb the extension - Attila Luomgo - to tick her first F8c+.

Vidmar is an extremely successful competition climber and was overall World Cup winner in 2007 after winning six World Cup competitions in a row. Her previous best redpoint was F8c.

Thanks go to Gerhard Schaar for the photographs. You can view more images of Maja on his website.

i don't know anything about women's sport climbing - is that the hardest female ascent or have women climbed in the 9s?

Look at her! You clearly need to pay more attention to women sport climbing ;-) Must be one of the hardest, after the ascents Morgs mentions.
