Scottish climber Robbie Phillips has ticked his first 8c sport route with an ascent of 2x30 at the El Pati sector, Siurana, Spain.

Robbie, who has a series of coaching articles on UKC, has climbed 13 8b+s in the last year and felt it was time to step his climbing up a notch.

Commenting on his blog he said:

"I prefer to consolidate a grade before jumping ahead of myself. This style of attack at climbing improvement in my opinion is much better than simply throwing yourself at harder and harder climbs, so this 8c for me came at the right time."

The route is a severely overhanging line to the right of the famous 9a+ of La Rambla, on one of Siurana's most impressive cliffs.
