Pete Robins has just climbed the first ascent of The Pink Panther, a new 8c+ on The Diamond on the Little Orme. Pete had tried this line last year but without success, this year was a different story with an early lifting of the bird ban bringing regular good conditions.

The Pink Star, 8c+, climbs the horizontal break above the line of Jon Ratcliffe's 8a, The Waiting Game. Last year, Pete added The Pink Panther, an 8b+ that linked the start of The Waiting Game into the higher break. This year, Pete was straight back down to try and finish off the full line, to take advantage of both the early opening of the crag and the better conditions found at this time of year.

You can find out more about The Pink Star on the DMM Website.

The Diamond is usually bird-banned until the 15th August, but Diamond enthusiast Pete Harrison headed down to check the state of the Kittiwake colony at the beginning of the month. Finding them to be gone, Pete sent Elfyn Jones, the BMC's Cymru Access and Conservation Officer pictures of the crag, and Elfyn agreed that the ban could be lifted 10 days early.
