In tonight's quite frankly AWESOME Friday Night Video we see British alpinist and artist Andy Parkin reflect on making the first ascent of the seminal ice and mixed route Beyond Good and Evil on the Aiguille des Pelerins in Chamonix.
After several abortive attempts, and despite fragile and terribly thin ice conditions, Andy completed the route in 1992 with Mark Twight and it remains a benchmark for high-end alpine climbers to this day.
In this video from French mountain brand Millet, filmed by Bertrand Delapierre and photographed UKC regular Jon Griffith, we see Chamonix based Seb Ratel and Marion Poitevin (both members of the Groupe militaire de haute montagne) climbing this hard classic in thin conditions.
- You can also read more on this on the Millet Website, or read Jon Griffith's blog account of this shoot.
An event will be held at Outside Hathersage on Saturday 18th October and will include the premiere of the movie "Beyond Good and Evil" as well as a talk from legendary alpinist and artist Andy Parkin.
