Mikey Schaefer and ForceFri Night Vid

Tonight's Friday Night Video from Patagonia and Duct Tape Then Beer productions tells a story made up of five years worth of footage from multiple successes, failures and misadventures on the summits of Patagonia by Mikey Schaefer.

A photographer and alpinist, Mikey tells of his relationship to this unique landscape, depicted in footage collected from 17 climbers over the five year period. For him, the complex fabric of Patagonia consists of people, landscapes and of course the temperamental weather conditions woven together to create an environment close to his heart.

"I chose Patagonia as much as it chose me."

As with mountain photography, the standard of climbing videos has gone so high. Yet, even so, this felt very special indeed. Forging a relationship with a place, going through the pain, the necessary learning process, translating dreams into reality, finding a way of being, a kind of peace. There's something iconic about Patagonia, something that touches your soul. Not sure what it is but it feels as though these dudes are interfacing with it. Long may their love affair continue. Mick

Agreed. Saw this on Climbing Narc last night. I don't have designs on mountaineering but this makes me think otherwise. A great film indeed.
