On 2nd December VauxWall hosted our 10th #VauxComp. This event was our Scarpa Edition with T-Shirts, Hoodys, Chalk buckets and 5 pairs Of Scarpa Instinct Slippers up for grabs!
This special 10th competition was sponsored by Scarpa with the first 100 competitors receiving a free limited edition Scarpa #VauxComp10 Vest. These looked fantastic at the event and we look forward to seeing them around London.
The #FunComp Black Circuit and #VauxComp set on the Scarpa Comp Wall were set by multiple British Champion Leah Crane & her partner in creativity, international banter machine Liam Lonsdale. Liam flew direct to London from commentating the La Sportiva Legends event in Stockholm last weekend. Leah delivered a fantastic guest Ladies Social on the Monday prior to the comp. Liam was also our official photographer for the event, as a passionate climber and route setter he was able to know exactly where to be to capture the best faces, moves and action.
The #FunComp circuit weighed in at VO – V4 whereas the #VauxComp set spread from V0 – V10. The #VauxComp set will be available to project up until the end of January. All 60 new problems have now been individually graded so competitors can see what level they were crushing.
The Junior Ladies category was closely contested with Cold Mountain Kit sponsored Ce-Ce Warren drawing 3rd with Mile End Squad member Megan Peters. Just 4 points ahead was our very own VauxSquad member Luna ‘The Lock’ Williamson in 2nd. Winning the Junior Ladies Category with 220 points (out of a possible 350) was The Castle comp squads Yasmin Roberts. The Junior Mens category was a bit more definitive with #VauxComp veteran and Mile End Squad member Callum Sturgeon winning 22 points ahead of 2nd placed Rob Simpson of The Reach Squad. VauxWall regular Alexander Furlong took 3rd with 153 points.
There was a great turn out in the Senior categories. In the Senior Ladies category Kira Roberts came 3rd with 122 points, Constance Beauchamps 2nd with 194 and Joint 1st place with 207 points each Kong Yin Ying and the VauxTeam's Kate Kusmider. Kong Yin Ying took the prize of Scarpa shoes and Kate had to be satisfied with a handshake from Leah Crane. Finally the Mens Senior Category was nail-bitingly close with Stefan Kolev unable to defend his VauxComp title coming joint 3rd with Sam Roberts on 287 points. Just 1 point ahead, The Arch’s Sacha Salamon-White took 2nd. Jack Beanland was victorious just 2 points ahead of Sacha with 290 points.
#VauxComp will return in February. #VauxComp 11 will be on Wednesday 3rd February.
VauxWall would like to thank our partner Scarpa for their generous support as well as our customers who make the event what it is.
