VIDEO: Gimme That Swing 8B by Dave MacLeod

Dave MacLeod has just made the first ascent of a new link-up of Dan Varian's 8A+ arete on the Cameron Stone in Glen Nevis. 'Gimme That Swing' starts up the arete and branches left up a series of crimps before a tricky jump to the top. Undeterred by the pouring rain, Dave used his jacket to shield the top hold from getting too wet...

In his blog, Dave wrote:

'Returning home from Mull I could see the incredible spell of weather was about to break. I dived out to my project on The Cameron Stone in Glen Nevis, which I was very close to completing before I left. It was starting to rain as I got there and the top rapidly got soaked.

'As usual I didn’t think I had all that much chance of success, but thought I better hang my Prophet Jacket off the baby Scot’s Pine growing out of the top-out crack, just in case I got there and needed dry(er) holds.'

There you have it - a top tip for ticking projects in the rain...
