Exploring the desert with Mason EarleFri Night Vid

© Eddie Bauer

Our Friday Night Video this week is with Mason Earle; an American climber who has a soft spot for crack climbing. Mason has climbed some of the world's hardest cracks, including Cobra Crack and his own 5.14 near Moab. The film shows the dedication needed to develop routes in the desert and Mason has spent years searching the Canyons of Utah for new routes. Utilising Google Earth, a flight simulator, an old dirt bike and a lot of time, Mason tracked down a beautiful unclimbed crack in a very remote canyon: Ringlock Ranch.

Looks like a great route.  Bit unfair leaving your belayer to walk out whilst you speed off on a motorbike.

Yep - kind of symptomatic for the feel of the whole film. I'd quite honestly have been better entertained (and informed) by something about some Scottish Severe classic in the rain.
