Jernej Kruder makes first repeat of Crown Royale, 9a (trad)
Jernej Kruder has made the second ascent of Pete Whittaker's Jøssingfjord trad route Crown Royale, 9a.
The 2018 adidas ROCKSTARS competition combined climbing with live music and show acts, and is an annual invitation-only competition, with some participants earning a place by competing in national 'Ticket to Rockstars' events across the globe.
Top boulderers from the IFSC circuit shared the stage with some pro/amateur competitors. Alex Puccio (USA) and Keita Watabe (JPN) led after semis. Will Bosi (GBR) finished in 15th place.
The knock-out final round and superfinals were an exciting spectacle, with some entertaining dance moves from Jernej Kruder (SLO) and Jongwon Chon (KOR) before their head-to-head race to complete the superfinal boulder. Miho Nonaka (JPN) beat Alex Puccio (USA) after a closely-fought race, and 2018 World Cup overall winner Jernej Kruder kept ahead of Jongwon Chon from the start thanks to a tactical start position.

Good coverage and good comp! The climbing was excellent and the men’s super final was hilarious. IFSC needs more Dad dancing.
On a slightly sour note the Adidas Rockstars commentary is a consistent annual reminder how spoiled we are with Charlie Boscoe commentating on the IFSC circuit.
Oddly, after the women's superfinal (up to and including which I thought the event was great) I felt that the whole show plummeted from a top-level sporting event to cringingly crass popular 'entertainment'.

Agreed. I didn't realise that I liked Charlie until I heard the commentating yesterday.
Och, it wasn't that bad. You have to come to these post season invitation events with the thinking it's just a bit of fun and a pay day for the ones good enough to command an appearance fee.
