Top Austrian climber Jakob Schubert has made the third ascent of Alex Megos' Perfecto Mundo (9b+) (9b+) at Margalef - Zona del Panta North, Spain. The route was bolted by Chris Sharma who worked the route on and off for a few years before attempting it with Alex Megos. Stefano Ghisolfi made the second ascent in December 2018.
Schubert has climbed several 9b's including Fight or Flight (9b), La Planta de Shiva (9b), Stoking the Fire (9b) and Neanderthal (9b), but Perfecto Mundo (9b+) is his first 9b+ and he becomes the fifth climber to reach the grade.
Identifying the goal of redpointing the route earlier in the year, Schubert told himself that to put in the time required he would need to have achieved his goal of qualifying for the Olympics, which he achieved over the summer.
Writing on his Instagram, Schubert said: 'What a day, after failing four times after the crux, two days ago even on the very last hard move above the lip it was an incredible relief to clip the chains of this amazing line today!'
