The event formed part of qualification for the Olympic-selective Combined competition, which begins on Friday with the Combined qualification rounds. Two tickets to Tokyo 2020 will be allocated to the highest-placed eligible man and woman in Saturday's Combined final; the last chance for European athletes.

Having placed 25th in Speed, 14th in Boulder and 3rd in Lead, Molly is currently ranked in 10th place heading into the Combined qualifier round. GB Climbing's Will Bosi has also qualified for the Combined event in 8th place, finishing 14th in Speed, 15th in Boulder and 12th in Lead. The top 8 out of the 20 qualifying climbers will progress to the Combined final on Saturday.

The 10-day event is a gruelling test of skin and stamina for the athletes. Earlier this week, Molly commented on Instagram: 'Taking it one day at a time here in Moscow during this marathon competition.' The climbers have been spending most of their down time in their hotel rooms, and many have brought food with them to minimise the risk of contracting COVID-19 in public areas.

Tomorrow (Thursday), the athletes will have a well-earned rest day before the competition resumes on Friday.

The Combined qualifier will be livestreamed on the Russia Climbing YouTube channel.
