Soulsville - Memphis, Tennessee Fri Night Vid

© Black Diamond

This week's Friday Night Video takes us to the heart of Soulsville in Memphis, Tennessee, where a climbing revolution is taking place. The Memphis Rox climbing wall has become a community hub, transcending the classic business model of a climbing wall. With a "pay what you can" approach, the wall is a glimpse into the future where a climbing gym can become a crucible for diversity, inclusivity and community.

We need your help.

UKClimbing is a vibrant web site with rich content and an amazing community. So far, all we've asked of you is that you visit and interact with the site but we are in uncertain times. We need to look at ways to keep the site moving forward whilst maintaining our key aim of allowing free access to everyone to our main content. The site will continue to be mainly funded by a subtle level of outdoor-only advertising but we now need extra support to ensure we can continue to provide the UKC that we all know and love.

What a beautiful, inspiring little film. I've rarely seen such a great example of how climbing can benefit a community and why increasing diversity within our sport matters.

Agree, we need more climbing vids and projects like this. Beautifully shot, and excellent inspiring example of what a climbing wall can do for a community. I hope it gives more gyms ideas of what they can do.

The Black Ice feature in this years Reel Rock 15 is an absolute must watch in my opinion.

It's by far the most powerful and meaningful film in the collection this year, probably of all the years so far.

Everyone should see these films, go watch them.

It does look really interesting - I might need to cough up and buy a virtual ticket! :)

There was a short interview with Malik Martin on Epic TV the other day - with some clips from the film as well https://www.epictv.com/media/series-home/climbing-daily/230997
