Spots of Time 9A/V17 - Aidan Roberts Climbing Britain's Hardest BoulderFri Night Vid

© Wedge Climbing

This week's Friday Night Video takes us part way up Helvellyn, where Aidan Roberts is attempting to make the first ascent of Britain's hardest boulder to date, Spots of Time (f9A).

Having worked his way through the majority of the high-end boulders that he knew about in the Lakes, Aidan found himself drawn further afield by his desire to seek out ambitious projects.

This film shows that, whilst there are beautiful boulders in Chironico and Lappnor, there might be something just as special right around the corner. Just a stone's throw from Aidan's own front door, Spots of Time would go on to represent not only one of Aidan's 'proudest moments', but 'a new level of difficulty' in UK bouldering.

Check out our interview with Aidan earlier this year, where he spoke in detail about both Spots of Time and his other 9A first ascent, Arrival of the Birds (f9A).

Watched this earlier in the week. Nice bit of telly.

When clicking on the log book entry I love the f9a appears to be the hardest grade on the scale. Those that consider it harder will need to vote for easy Diff.

(I also consider my level of being impressed and inspired off the scale hence the irreverent reply)

Really enjoyed that, a fascinating insight into cutting edge bouldering.

Reminiscent of Burden of Dreams (as viewed from my armchair).
