Young Welsh Expats clean up in New Zealand

© UKC News
Brothers Dez and Wiz Fineron aged 12 and 14 have recently emigrated from Llanberis to New Zealand. Rising stars in the North Wales climbing scene, the brothers have been sorely missed over the last few months. It seems as though they are putting their Gogarth skills to good use by cleaning up in the first round of the NZAC national bouldering series - with Dez coming first and Wiz a close second.

The boys were well known in the Llanberis area for their energy and drive. Wiz is the 2007 Welsh indoor climbing champion and Dez is also a successful indoor competitor. The pair made several hard traditional ascents during the summer of 2007, with Wiz completing what could be the youngest onsight of Cenotaph Corner at the age of 12.

The pair have both climbed E3 traditional routes and V7 boulder problems. The NZ competition was held outdoors at Waitomo on the North Island of New Zealand.

UKClimbing wish them both well in their future competitions and in their general New Zealand exploits.
