Purpose of the job
To provide coaching in all aspects of the West 1 Climbing Programme. As a Climbing Coach, you will be responsible for teaching climbing and motivating customers in developing their climbing skills. You will help people of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels and will be responsible for promoting a safe climbing environment for experienced and novice climbers alike.

Working Hours
West 1 Climbing is offering varied fixed term contracts (10-20 hours). The hours for these positions are variable, but will be carried out mostly on weekday and weekend days. It is a requirement that one weekend day per week is worked during the school terms.

Extra hours can be worked on top of the contracted position available and will be paid at the contracted rate.

Duties and responsibilities

• Be responsible for the health, safety & wellbeing of all your clients
• Provide Coaching and Instruction in all aspects of the Climbing Programme
• Ensure clear and appropriate communication with all customers, including parents and carers of children under your supervision
• Proactive approach to sales and customer care, and ensure a high level of customer service
• Develop and manage client relationships and take ownership of all issues under your control as a key customer driver
• Maintain records and update paperwork relating to coached sessions and working hours
• Work in accordance with the West 1 & Everyone Active coach operating procedures (SCOP)

Person Specification

• Current climber & relevant personal climbing experience; up to date knowledge of current climbing best practice and knowledge of Health & Safety within a climbing environment
• Enthusiastic about introducing climbing to others with a proactive and flexible attitude
• Able to work as part of a team, & has excellent communications skills
• Experience of coaching or teaching others and able to deliver excellent customer service
• Punctual with effective organisation and time management skills
• Ability to stay calm and focused during challenging work situation
• CWI or RCI desirable
